CHOOSING JOY IN TIMES OF CHANGE

Three weeks ago, our little family "packed up shop" and moved to the Midwest per PCS orders. This my 3rd "military move," which to many mil spouses that is nothing. Despite my being used to the Gulf beaches, year-round hot & sunny weather, I was looking forward to this adventure. I have realized that enjoying where you live is a CHOICE. Like with many things, you can choose to be happy or you can choose to be miserable. If you focus on all the things a place doesn't have then chances are you're going to be miserable, likewise, if you make the effort to find things that you may enjoy- you'll probably appreciate it more.

I think this concept becomes even more important when becoming a parent. Showing Charlotte that change doesn't have to be stressful, heartbreaking, and uncomfortable and to choose to see the adventure in the journey- building resiliency and concept of CHOOSING joy.

So far I think she is enjoying what Manhattan Kansas has to offer at least as far as the splash pad goes. That said, tell all your friends there's now more photographers in Manhattan Kansas!
